Ground Fishing Trips Littlehampton
It is recommended that those new to a rod, reel and line get to know their tools in a more controlled environment where the boat is stationary at anchor. The depth is probably no more than 20m so the tide is less, so less weight is required. We fish on the seabed, which is generally broken rough ground or reef, where catches can include bass, bream, whiting, dogfish, ray, tope, spurdog, smoothhound and perhaps conger. Over winter, cod are fished for in this way
The waters off Littlehampton contain reef systems that produce countless species all year round and the famous Kingmere Rocks give us some of the best bream fishing in the English Channel.
Wreck Fishing Trips Littlehampton
For the more energetic and experienced angler, a day’s fishing the many war wrecks off the South Coast promises catches of fine pollack, cod, ling and conger. The former are usually taken when drifting across a wreck trailing artificial lures, whilst conger fishing entails anchoring up-tide of the wreck, fishing into it with baits. Tackle loss can be quite high whilst drifting, but the rewards can be much greater.
Wrecking trips will be available only on the correct tides to ensure the best chance of catching!
Due to the nature of these trips we do not offer tackle hire when wreck fishing.
During the summer months plenty of mackerel can be caught for bait on feathers out on the fishing grounds. This can be supplemented by frozen squid and lugworm purchased from Hook a Fish in Pier Road just above the boat’s berth on the river.
We can now source live sandeels from “Sussex sandeels” a killer bait for bass!
